About Us

The development of Rohnert Park’s Green Building Ordinance was possible because of the collaborative efforts between the City Council and the City’s Building Official, Peter Bruck.  Mr. Bruck was instrumental in writing the Green Building Ordinance and used it as the focal point for the work leading to his Master of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies: Sustainable and Energy Efficient Communities, from Sonoma State University in 2007.

While we provide green building consulting on a very limited basis, our main purpose is to provide as much information as possible to communities that are interested in developing their own green building programs/ordinances.  We understand the budget constraints that cities and counties are under these days.  It is our hope that by providing content and tools relevant to the development of green building ordinances and programs, local communities can get started with creating effective and meaningful regulations that reflect the values of a community while keeping within the limits of available resources.  The concept of a sustainable community not only addresses green building, but strives for a balance of economy, social equity, and the environment.
